Port of Reykjavik
Ferry Routes and Cruises
(Reykjavik, Gullbringusysla, Iceland)
The Eimskip cargo company at Reykjavik Port offers limited passenger cabins on its cargo ships to various destinations across Europe. These are considered an important lifeline for the island and make a vital link between Iceland and Northern Europe.
The services are slow and make multiple stops over several days before reaching destinations as far as Aarhus.
Due to the length of trip, these ferries aren't popular for short visits to Iceland, as they take several days to complete the journey.
Reykjavik to the Faroe Islands and Europe mainland
The cargo company Eimskip offers some passenger cabins on its ships Godafoss and Dettifoss. The ships sail every two weeks between Reykjavik harbour and the Faroe Islands, stopping off at many other destinations such as Hamburg, Aarhus in Denmark, Fredrikstad in Norway, Grundartangi (Iceland), Eskifjordur (Iceland) and Gothenburg (Sweden). The Godafoss and Dettifoss also offer another route from Reykjavik that stops at the Vestman Islands, Immingham and Rotterdam.
