Tourist Attractions
The night scene in Reykjavik is highly celebrated with many cafés that become bars in the evenings, numerous dance clubs and plenty of bars. For this reason, Reykjavik is known as the nightlife capital of the north.
The old town is definitely worth visiting as it is home to many places of interest including the National Museum and the Árni Magnússon Institute, which houses 13th century sagas. Laugavegurinn is the main shopping street in the city and is usually bustling with people.
The famous thermal waters of the Blue Lagoon are located just outside the city and are worth the drive. Also in the area is a lake set in a lava rock landscape and filled with steaming waters and glowing grey mud.
